A JOURNEY INTO THE ‘TRENDY BATHROOM

What are today’s trends? What innovations has technology brought to the bathroom world?

From wall coverings to taps and fittings, from sanitary ware to thermo furnishings, we let you discover the latest innovations.

How far has the bathroom concept come in the last 50 years? From being one of the least important rooms in the home, over time it has become a true place of well-being. This has made it a space that is always at the centre of the avant-garde to the point that today we can undoubtedly speak of a “trendy bathroom”.

A mood devoted to innovation that we wanted to tell you about in our showroom and that you can touch with your own hands, as Carla did, one of our customers struggling with the renovation of her bathroom.

We accompanied her, together with our consultant Marco (an interior designer trained at the IDEA Academy in Bari), on a journey that led her to discover the new 100% Made in Italy solutions on the market today: from wall tiles to taps and fittings, from sanitary ware to thermo-furnishing.

The contemporary bathroom has a marked stylistic feature: it is characterised by a return to colours and decoration.

One example? Casalgrande Padana’s new R-Evolution collection. A cement-effect porcelain stoneware product (click here) born of fine research into materials and shades. Its expressive palette of colours is softened by a cloudy effect that interprets cement in a decisive and modern way. R-Evolution is so versatile and transversal that it can also be imagined for residential construction, public buildings and street furniture. In our showroom we have displayed it on the wall, playing with the joints to create a nice contrast: the joint is not coloured but light, giving a decorative touch to the wall.

When we talk about innovation, we also need to think about its technological applications. Geda’s tapware is a model of this. The result is a product which stands out for its original and innovative design thanks to the click clack system which makes the drain disappear. A choice that, due to its functionality, goes well with the cabinet in tourmaline-coloured sandblasted finish by Compab with white ceramic console washbasin. A lively piece of furniture that is enhanced by its metal structure in a matt black finish. A beautiful and functional idea.

Also very interesting are the novelties for shower corners. Among them, Marco recommends a practical matt brushed rising and sliding rail with a pull-out hand shower. A practical and aesthetically pleasing solution to harmonise your wellness time. We have combined this with a great innovation by Gaberit: we are talking about Combifix, a shower module with wall drain designed for built-in installation. This means that from today you can start imagining a more practical and beautiful shower and, why not, with a shower tray made entirely of tiles. Perhaps with a floor tile from the Tonalite Aquarel collection. A true homage to floral decoration and geometries that reinterprets some late 19th century styles in a modern key. The chromatic effect is similar to that of watercolours: the colour is spread in more or less dense veils on the surface, giving a sense of movement, strength and tone.

When it comes to the bathroom, the sanitary ware sector must also be explored. Among the most fascinating things you can discover in our showroom is the APP series by Flaminia. A collection that celebrates the return to colour and which, in its shapes, renounces the side caps and the rim in favour of a more uniform and hygienic rounded line. In addition to this, there is a particularly valuable article proposed by Geberit: the Sigma 70 flush plate. A design object in brushed steel completely without buttons or levers that seems to ‘float’ on the wall. A light touch is all that is needed to operate it.

But the bathroom would not be a place of relaxation without a bathtub. On display in our showroom is the Muse by Kos: a true sculpture to be exhibited in the middle of the room. Spacious and ergonomic, its lines are essential and strongly materic, recalling a shell with thin thicknesses.

To conclude this itinerary, we would like to recommend two particular solutions for thermo-furnishing. The first is Irsap’s Like towel warmer. A tubular and design idea that is a bit like a picture frame. Light and refined, its elements intersect and merge to give shape to an elegant, discreet radiator with a strong personality.

The other proposal, however, goes beyond the idea of thermo-furnishing, becoming a true furnishing accessory. It is called Scaletta and is proposed by Tubes. A nomadic, iconic and pop object, far removed from the traditional shapes of the towel warmer and offering maximum freedom of positioning. Scaletta is a plug&play electric product equipped with a pulley that wraps around the power cable.

This concludes Carla’s journey into bathroom trends. She now has clearer ideas and already knows that she will opt for a solution that combines trend, colour and – of course – well-being.
