Renovating and restoring a historic house is always an exciting experience (we have already told you about it here). You give value to the past by respecting its stones and vaults. You create the future by giving it new life.

This is what we have achieved with the project of the b&b Beatrice Rooms, in the historic centre of Conversano (in Apulia, a few kilometres from the sea). The aim was to transform a house in the historic centre into a charming accommodation facility.

We started with the choice of flooring, which, according to the style proposed by the architect, had to be in line with the architectural identity of the structure. So for the interior walls (here are some ideas) we chose solid porcelain stoneware in dark shades. From the bathrooms to the kitchen, a contrast was created that enhances the original light-coloured stone.

An elegant interplay of shapes and matt colours has been recreated inside the shower. The use of floral and regular majolica tiles in the bathroom is a tribute to the typicality of the territory. Cement tiles are a way of telling the story of Puglia and its architectural tradition.

For the exterior cladding, we opted to recover the original façade, cleaning the stone and making it shine in its own light. In the eyes of the guest, the bed & breakfast presents itself as a shining point that is soon recognisable among the houses next to it.

The biggest challenge was to create a bathroom area in this old building that would be characterised by modern and functional bathroom furniture. In accordance with the latest hygiene guidelines, we selected wall-hung sanitary fixtures (here are some examples) with rounded lines that play in contrast to the square stones also present in this area of the building. The sink, also with soft contours, is presented as an autonomous accessory resting on a precious wood shelf.

As with every Edilceram supply, we have selected cladding, bathroom furniture and accessories that are exclusively Made In Italy, in line with our company philosophy.

With choices of this kind, renovating an old house becomes a pleasant adventure and a concrete dream: that of welcoming tourists in a b&b that meets their expectations.
